Meet the Founder

You may ask, what makes you an Expert?

I'm by name Dr. Irtwange Nguwasen Blessing, a graduate of Akperan Orshi College of Agriculture (AOCAY), Yandev, Benue state, Nigeria. Here, I earned my National Diploma in Animal Health and Production and a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) earned from Joseph Sarwuan Tarka University, Makurdi (JOSTUM), Benue State, Makurdi, Nigeria.

My professional interests include:

Why I Started The Vet Vortex

The inspiration for this blog was born during my Industrial Training Scheme - a program every Nigerian undergraduate undertakes to gain real-world experience related to their field of study.

During this period, I noticed the interactions between doctors and clients about their animal patients. Often, veterinarians had to simplify medical explanations into layman’s terms so clients could understand what was happening. Despite their efforts, many clients - both adults and curious children, still found it hard to fully grasp the situation.

What should have been a simple conversation sometimes turned into a long “lecture,” followed by repeated explanations. Some clients, in their confusion, would turn to “Almighty Dr-Google”, only to find misleading information that not only created unnecessary panic but also interfered with the doctor’s work. They would doubt the veterinarian’s advice, ignore instructions, or try to “fix” things themselves, believing they could do better.

Seeing this gap inspired me to create The Vet Vortex - a reliable space where clients can find accurate, easy-to-understand information about animal health and care. It’s a resource that veterinarians can confidently refer their clients to, knowing they’ll find trustworthy explanations that complement professional advice rather than contradict it.

Commitment to Accuracy

Information shared on this blog is based on veterinary training, clinical exposure, and recognised veterinary health guidelines.

Thank you for being here, and I hope you find "The Vet Vortex" to be a valuable resource. Be prepared to be inspired, informed, and intrigued.

Warmest regard,
Dr. Irtwange Nguwasen Blessing (DVM)
